The city of Amman
In this perek we learn how Dovid fought the nation of Ammon. The city of Amman, Jordan takes its names from the ancient nation of Ammon who lived there. At one point the Greek ruler Ptolemy II Philadelphos rebuilt the city and named it Philadelphia but today the city is known as Amman.
Below is an ancient watchtower believed to be from the times of Ammon.
The city was on a high hill that had steep valleys on three sides. The other side was more vulnerable to attack.
