וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל אֶבְיָתָר הַכֹּהֵן הַגִּישָׁה הָאֵפוֹד

The ephod was one of the garments worn by the Kohein Gadol. It looked something like an apron. The choshen (which contained the Urim V'tumim) rested on the ephod.
